It is a bustling era, wherein large vessels navigate busy sea routes and the power of steam gives birth to new technologies. (dont forget to do sidequests and optional dungeons as well).įinally thematically it just makes the most sense, it's supposed to be a journey that your 8 characters are embarking on together (even if you only play four at once) so it makes the most sense to me that their stories are playing out at the same time. The story takes place in Solistia, a land comprising an eastern and western continent divided by the sea. There's also no need to constantly be switching subclasses unless you have no idea what you want each character to do, which should be easy for you to decide by the time you finish chapter 2. What I did was do all 8 chapter 1s, and then starting with chapter 2 I rotated a party member out everytime I completed someone's chapter. Like others have said you cant actually complete the game without all 8 because there are 4 shared path stories woth 2 chaptwrs each and the final story requires all 8, not to mention the story takes you to each character's area anyway so you'd actively have to skip them. Just to offer a different perspective, it's only a slog if you don't have a plan in mind. But yeah, want to know pros and cons to this plan.

Also I avoid wanting to level and grind for everyone. This way I kept one of the characters I’m most excited to play for the next play through, to encourage me to finish. I grind, over level and then get side quest fatigue. My other thoughts were I’m criminal at not finishing game.

I only ask as I didn’t play the first game and I don’t know what to expect. Plus I would probably prefer more bonding time and focus on a smaller party.īut then I had the thought, do all the 8 characters stories tie together differently? If I do only recruit 4 will I miss out on some cool tie ins? Example: if I didn’t get Partito i could miss out on a backstory linking with Osvald? The plan was to extend the life of the game, as I am not going to be buying any new ones for some time. So I was planning originally to recruit 4 characters in my first play through and then the remainder on my next.
